The district audition round is the first round with the most participants. Students who advance from the district round will perform in a region choir.

The Region audition round is for all students who advanced from the District round. Students at this round are auditioning to be placed into the Region Mixed Choir. Only Region Mixed Choir students advance to the Pre-Area Round.

Students who sang in the Region Mixed Choir are eligible to compete at this round. This round includes a sight-reading component in addition to the audition music.

Students who advance from the Pre-Area round are qualified to compete at this round. Note that this round includes a sight-reading component. Students who advance from this round will perform in one of the Texas All State Choirs in San Antonio during the TMEA annual conference.
